Short- and Long-Term Outcomes Associated with Large for Gestational Age Birth Weight

چکیده

Large for gestational age birth weight is associated with adverse short- and long-term outcomes. Infants born large are at increased risk neonatal intensive care unit admission, respiratory distress, metabolic abnormalities including hypoglycemia, trauma, even stillbirth or death. The many of these complications increases higher weights. Individuals also appear to be subsequent overweight/obesity, diabetes, cardiovascular disease, some childhood cancers. These data highlight the need effective interventions decrease across lifespan.
